A set of six original dining chairs designed by Douglas Snelling in the early 1950’s. Snelling’s furniture was made in various woods, mostly silver ash and Queensland maple, which were more readily available during Australia’s post-war austerity than other species. The standard cotton webbing colors initially were cyclamen, creole brown, catalina blue, and cactus green. Fawn was added in the early 1950s.

Alterations and defects: These chairs have various impressions in wood, wear in varnish, marks and joins commensurate with age although structurally sound. The webbing is wearing in some locations. Please refer to photographs.

Organising Own Delivery

To keep the process as smooth as possible for our sellers please note the following terms and conditions for buyers making their own arrangements to collect a purchased item:

larger items must be collected by a two person team
sellers are not required to assist
items for collection will not be packed or wrapped
risk passes to the buyer from the moment of pick up

Very Good condition: used, shows signs of acceptable wear and tear

Moderate condition: used, shows obvious signs of wear and tear, needs some TLC though structurally sound

Poor condition: needs to be repaired to be able to be used
