Artes Studios Pty Ltd Sydney rare set of eight post modern chairs, circa 1980-1990. The ergonomic curved bentwood seat is supported by angular stylised black powder coated steel frames. Could be used as a striking set of dining chairs or occasional chairs.

Artes Studio began in 1945 and George Korody was initially Artes Studio’s sole designer. In 1979 Artes Studio was bought by Kevin Jarrett, later becoming Artes Arredorama and today known as Space Furniture.

Mostly in good vintage condition, each seat and structure is sound with no compromised areas or breaks to the robust structure. The seats all have marks and scratches (commonly seen in furniture from the 1990’s when designer jeans etc had buttons that pressed into seats).  Some backs also have scratches visible in the detail shots as are any chips to the bentwood veneer. The painted steel frames also have wear in places, mostly the arms, consummate to age and use. The bolts attaching each set to the frame have oxidisation in places.
