Spanning roughly the period from the mid 1930s up to the 1970s, the term “mid-century modern” broadly describes architecture, furniture, and graphic design from this era. Designers like Herman Miller, Florence Knoll and Charles and Ray Eames are some of the famous names of midcentury design.

Fun fact! In 1984 author Cara Greenberg coined the phrase “mid-century modern” in the title for her book, ‘Mid-Century Modern: Furniture of the 1950s’. In the early eighties, mid century design, (which had been out of fashion for a decade) was experiencing a revival. The surge in interest was reflected by rising prices and mainstream enthusiasm.

Today, design lovers all over the world appreciate the iconic designs of the mid twentieth century. In public spaces, restaurants, hotels and private homes, mid century design has clearly stood the test of time.
