What does your home say about you? Does it align with who you are? Does it showcase your personality? Or does it lack a little character?

Some people love a cosy space, others lean towards bold and colourful, while some prefer a minimalist look. Whatever your penchant, the key to feeling at home in your home is to embrace a style that reflects who you are.

American interior design and television personality Nate Berkus perhaps says it best: Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love, brought together under one roof.”

If you’re not immediately sure of your interior design style, you are not alone. It can be a challenge to land on your own, unique style, and trial and error can be an expensive exercise. That’s why research is so important.

“If it’s not something that comes naturally to you, it’s important to do your research and work out what styles bring you joy,” says Australian interior designer and Director of Parker Studio, Caitlin Parker-Brown.

“Interior design magazines, Pinterest and Instagram are all great sources of inspiration,” adds Parker-Brown. “Create a mood board and see how all of your chosen furnishings sit together on the page. This is a really helpful process and can help you get a clearer vision.”

A mood board is a great way to gather ideas. All items available on Two Design Lovers

At Two Design Lovers, it’s easy to shop according to your personal style as our items are divided into a selection of style categories. Contemporary or Traditional; French Provincial, Asian or Hamptons-inspired; Antique or Mid-century Modern – we’ve got you covered. We haven’t forgotten our home ground. Practical and playful, Australian design is well represented at Two Design Lovers, and is a patriotic way to bring style to you home.

Perhaps neutral palettes, light furnishings and classic silhouettes are more to your liking: Welcome to the Hamptons, where fresh and airy reigns. Cross the Atlantic for French provincial inspiration, and bring the aesthetic into your home through ornate carvings and mouldings, fine lines and rustic timbers. Two Design Lovers’ collection of authentic Asian wares will deliver intrigue and rich minimalism to any space, while Charles and Ray Eames, two of the biggest names in Mid-century Modern design, are among the creators featuring right now on Two Design Lovers. Borrowing from the style of the mid-1900s, most prominently the 50s and 60s, Mid-century Modern is a happy marriage between functionality and good looks. It is also particularly flexible, which goes a long way to explaining its longevity.
